Denver, Colo. -- April 8, 2003 -- The Board of Directors for the 16th Annual GIS in the Rockies Conference issues its call for papers. The conference theme is "Geospatial Integration Today for Tomorrow." Program topics for which abstracts are invited include Introduction to GIS, Education and Career Development, Imagery and Remote Sensing, GPS and Field Data, Engineering and Infrastructure, Emerging Technologies, Software and Integration, Resource Management, Public Policy and Administration, Technologies for Homeland Defense and the new Vendor Showcase.
"We are pleased to introduce the Vendor Showcase this year," said Keith Hangland, Chair of the GIS in the Rockies Board of Directors. "Our attendees want to be able to learn about new products and services, and yet often have no specific questions in mind. We see this new track as a way to further enhance the learning opportunities at our conference."
Abstracts are to be submitted online at http://GISintheRockies.org/abstracts. Deadline for submission of abstracts is June 1, 2003.
About the conference
The Conference will be October 1-3, 2003 at the Plaza at the Mart, a facility
at the Denver Merchandise Mart. The program will be in a new format this
year. Wednesday and Thursday will include technical sessions, the exhibition,
and shorter workshops (1 1/2 hours). Friday's program includes technical
tours and a golf outing.
The sponsoring societies are the Colorado Section of the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), the Rocky Mountain Region of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA), the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado (PLSC), the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) and GIS Colorado.
