ASPRS: The Imaging & Geospatial Information Society is proud to announce the recent appointment of Kimberly A. Tilley as assistant executive director of ASPRS. Tilley is the director of communications for ASPRS, and will continue in that role, while also serving as the Societys assistant executive director.
Tilley served as acting operating officer of ASPRS following the retirement of previous executive director William D. French in 1997, until ASPRS Executive Director James R. Plasker was appointed in 1998. She has continued to work with Plasker in a similar capacity, and this appointment officially recognizes the additional role and responsibilities she has undertaken over the past two years.
"Kim is an exceptional employee with many years of quality experience in association operations and management," said Plasker. "She was invaluable to the Officers and staff during the changeover of executive directors, and her strong knowledge of associations has been particularly important to me as I made the transition from government to the non-profit sector."
On staff with ASPRS since 1996, Tilley is executive editor of PE&RS, the Societys peer-reviewed journal, and oversees the Societys extensive publishing, marketing, and meetings programs. She began her association career more than 20 years ago in association publication production and marketing. A native Washingtonian, she spent ten years as publications manager and managing editor at the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association. From there, she moved on to the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy where she was publications director and managing editor of the associations bi-monthly newspaper and quarterly journal for nine years. Tilley is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
"ASPRS continues to provide me with many challenges and opportunities. I am looking forward to publishing portions of our monthly journal on the ASPRS web site, as well as expanding our e-commerce capability to service our members and others who are seeking quality publications and educational opportunities," said Tilley.
Founded in 1934, ASPRS is an international professional organization of 7,000 geospatial data professionals. ASPRS is devoted to advancing knowledge and improving understanding of the mapping sciences to promote responsible application of photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems and supporting technologies.
