LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Continued from page 112
the promising and challenging state of ASPRS and to align
our desired pathway forward. We assessed the capability
of candidates to implement our organization’s vision
and mission as defined by our strategic plan, to serve as
a change agent leading our society in new and fruitful
directions, to strengthen both internal and external rela-
tionships with peer organizations in our profession; and
to contribute broadly and interact effectively as a work
manager with headquarters staff and member volunteers.
At the outset, we were unsure who might respond to our
vacancy announcement. Individuals with widely diversi-
fied experience applied. We were extremely fortunate to
have highly qualified finalists from whom we selected Dr.
Hauck and to whom we offered the position. Without the
dedication and commitment of many individuals who served
many hours over several weeks on these succession and
transition committees, we would not be in such a strong
position to move forward with confidence and optimism.
Those who participated reflect the strong core of profes-
sional volunteerism so characteristic of our membership.
I know you will give your unqualified support to Michael,
headquarters staff, and many dedicated member vol-
unteers during this transition period and beyond. Our
Society will remain viable and continue to advance our
imaging and geospatial profession for many years to come.
I look forward to working with all of you to ensure the
continued success and prosperity of our organization.
Stephen D. DeGloria
ASPRS President
