ANNOUNCEMENTS
DAT/EM Systems International
® is pleased to announce
The Sanborn Map Company, Inc. purchased its software to
support in-house mapping, orthorectification, mosaicking and
triangulation activities for commercial mapping projects in the
United States and around the globe. The purchase consisted
of licenses for Summit Evolution™, a photogrammetric map-
ping system for extracting 3D information from stereo data
and viewing projects in 3D stereo. For more information, visit

GeoCue Corporation
is pleased to announce that the COWI
Group, headquartered in Denmark, has selected the GeoCue
workflow management suite to manage its LIDAR data pro-
duction operations. COWI is ideally suited to leverage the
GeoCue framework to improve its overall efficiency. As part
of their commitment to deploying state-of-the-art technology,
COWI provides airborne LIDAR data collection and process-
ing services using the Leica ALS LIDAR family of instruments
for both corridor and wide area mapping projects. Engaged
on some of the largest LIDAR data collection programs in
the world, including the 450,000 sq. km Swedish National
Height Model program, COWI is committed to implementing
and maintaining a robust enterprise workflow management
system for this important business. COWI will be able to cus-
tomize and extend GeoCue to other areas of production as
necessary and will be able to leverage the integration of the
full Leica ALS LIDAR workflow in GeoCue via the upcoming
release of CloudPro for GeoCue. For more information, visit

Optech
is pleased to announce the release of the HydroFusion
Turbid Water Module, a powerful new tool that enables the
Optech CZMIL Coastal Zone Mapping and Imaging Lidar to
collect bathymetry data in water conditions that were previ-
ously impossible to capture. Based on Optech’s experience in
lidar bathymetry waveform analysis, the Turbid Water Mod-
ule is an addition to the Optech CZMIL HydroFusion work-
flow specifically designed to detect and extract bathymetry
measurements from turbid, shallow waters and muddy, less
reflective seafloors, areas where previous lidar bathymeters
could not extract depth measurements. Combined with the
advanced hardware of the Optech CZMIL, the Turbid Water
Module has successfully made seafloor measurements from
very shallow waters (depth <1-2 m) in highly turbid conditions
(K
d
>0.5 m
-1
) with dark, muddy bottoms (reflectance = 3-5%).

CONTRACTS
MDA
provides RADARSAT-2 information to the Malaysia
Remote Sensing Agency. MDA’s Information Systems group
(MDA) announced today that it has signed a contract with the
Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA) to provide RA-
DARSAT-2 information that will be used to support a number
of applications, such as agriculture monitoring, and natural
disaster response. MRSA has used RADARSAT information to
support various applications since 2003.
MRSA has been utilizing the recent access to RADARSAT-2
information to aid in the search of the missing Malaysia Air-
lines Flight MH370.
The RADARSAT-2 satellite has global high-resolution sur-
veillance capabilities that include a large collection capaci-
ty, high accuracy, and wide-area coverage that is extremely
useful in imaging the vast tracts of territory. The satellite ac-
quires data regardless of light or weather condition, provides
frequent re-visit imaging options, and is supported by ground
receiving stations that provide near real-time information de-
livery services. This versatility makes RADARSAT-2 a reliable
source of information in multi-faceted intelligence surveying
and monitoring programs.
