Potomac Region Election Results
Welcome Evan Brown and Dr. Gang Chen to the ASPRS Potomac Region Board! Mr. Evan Brown will be one of three Region
Directors and Dr. Chen will be secretary/treasurer.
Evan Brown
has 20 years of geospatial experience in the public
and private sectors. His experience includes technical work and
management of projects in Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing,
GIS, and GPS. Mr. Brown is a graduate of the University of
Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Geography and a master’s
degree in Geomatics with a concentration in photogrammetry.
Mr. Brown has been an active member of ASPRS continuously
since 2001 and is certified as a Photogrammetrist and Mapping
Scientist (GIS/LIS). Mr. Brown served the Florida Region as
a Director, Vice President, and President from 2006 to 2012.
Mr. Brown is currently a Federal civilian where he works in
photogrammetry and image science.
Gang Chen
is an environmental scientist. He applies remote
sensing, spatiotemporal analysis, and statistical modeling
to monitor the change of our terrestrial ecosystems and
understand how natural and anthropogenic factors drive this-
change. He has been working on a variety of projects, located
in Antarctica, Brazil, Canada, China, the United States, and
Turkey. Dr. Chen has published 30 refereed journal articles and
served as a reviewer for over 30 international journals, funding
agencies and scientific conferences. Dr. Chen is currently an
Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and
Earth Sciences at UNC Charlotte, and Secretary-Treasurer
of the AAG (Association of American Geographers) Landscape
Specialty Group.
