ASPRS IS PROUD TO PRESENT THE FIRST RECIPIENTS
OF THE NEW UAS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

SPRS hosted a pre-conference UAS Technical Symposium at the Commercial
UAV Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 24
th
, 2017. During this full-day
symposium, eight presentations were made by ASPRS members and practicing
service providers giving attendees a comprehensive understanding of UAS
mapping in accordance with current geospatial accuracy standards.
The symposium concluded with a presentation on the new ASPRS UAS Mapping certifications. Examinations for qualified
applicants for the ASPRS UAS Certified Mapping Scientist, Technologist, or Intern designations were proctored at the conference
venue on October 25
th
.

This workshop provides an in-depth review of content
contained in the ASPRS Airborne Topographic Lidar Manual.
It is valuable for those planning to take the examination
for ASPRS Certified Mapping Scientist-Lidar, Certified
Technologist-Lidar, or Intern. Workshop participants
will answer practice questions and discuss answers in
an interactive session. The workshop is also valuable for
practitioners wishing to further their mastery of the material
contained in this ASPRS publication.

This workshop covers the common knowledge areas compris-
ing 2/3 of exam content for ASPRS Certification. It is valu-
able preparation for those who have never taken an ASPRS
exam, as well as for those who have expertise in a particular
specialty, such as Lidar or UAS, but feel less prepared for the
general knowledge component of the exam. This workshop
will also explain the certification application process and the
importance of certification in career development.
The certification exam will be offered later in the week for those who submitted an application and passed peer
review.
