Book Review Editor
The book review editor will work with geospatial science publishers,
PE&RS
volunteer reviewers, and ASPRS staff to produce a monthly
book review for
PE&RS
.
For individuals considering this position, a detailed outline of the
primary responsibilities is listed below:
• Acquire latest publications within the geospatial arena. Every
6 months contact the major publishers of this literature. These
publishers will send a hardcover copy for review.
• Send out a blanket call to experts in the field as potential reviewers.
• Send out books and instructions to reviewers (ASPRS will
reimburse shipping costs).
• Provide grammatical and structural edits to the reviews.
• Submit reviews to
PE&RS
with both the editor’s and reviewer’s
concurrence
• At the beginning of the year, send
PE&RS
published reviews to
both the publisher and the reviewer.
SectorInsight Co-Editor
The individual will work jointly with Dr. Amr Abd-Elrahman as the co-
editorial team for the SectorInsight column.
The SectorInsight Column, published monthly in
PE&RS,
is a general
interest column, related to education and professional development of
the ASPRS community
Responsibilities of the position are listed below:
• Invite experts in certain topical areas of high interest to the ASPRS
community and have education and professional development
dimension to write short (700-1200 words) article.
• Following up on the initial invitation to submit column drafts, if
necessary.
• Once a draft is submitted, the co-editors work in shaping the draft
for publication. This process often involves providing feedback on
aspects to increase text clarity and impact, while maintaining the
writers’ own views, content and writing style.
If you are interested in either position, please send by email: (1) a
cover letter describing your interest and why you are qualified for this
position, and (2) a short (2-3 page) resume to:
