The other names on the long list of honorees are not as well known to
me personally, but may be better known to others. We are compiling
digital versions of the individual Memorial Addresses for publication
on the ASPRS website, so they can be easily accessed. I would
strongly encourage students and young professionals to take the
time to browse this archive to get a sense of the history and make a
connection to the “stream of guidance” I referred to earlier.
In future Memorial Address presentations, I also hope to be able to
present a list of names of the ASPRS members who have passed in
the prior year. We are working on tracking that information in our
member database, but it is not the easiest information to gather.
We strongly encourage regions and individual members to inform
headquarters when updates need to be made. I would also ask anyone
who would like to nominate an honoree for a future Memorial Address
to please contact me. It would be most helpful if you can also provide
contact information for a family member or colleague who would be
able to help with gathering of material, such as personal stories and
photographs. And finally, if anyone is interested in serving on the
Memorial Address committee, George Lee and I would welcome your
company and assistance.
