ASPRS Announces New Editor for
PE&RS

DR. ALPER YILMAZ SELECTED AS
PE&RS
EDITOR
WILL PROVIDE NEW LEADERSHIP AND VISION FOR THE JOURNAL
T
he ASPRS is pleased to announce that Dr. Alper Yilmaz
has been selected froman impressive field of applicants
to be the next Editor of the ASPRS
PE&RS
journal. He
succeeds Dr. Russell G. Congalton who held this position
for eight years. The ASPRS wishes to thank Russ and his
wife for their many contributions to the journal.
Dr. Yilmaz is an Associate Professor of Geodetic Engineering with appointments in Civil
Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering Departments at The Ohio State
University. He is currently chairing the ISPRS working group on Image Sequence Analysis.
Dr. Yilmaz has published over 80 journal and conference papers which received more than
5000 citations.
ASPRS Executive Director Michael Hauck commented, ““Dr. Yilmaz is a creative, energetic
editor, full of ideas for taking our journal to newheights. He brings years of editorial experience,
an international reputation, and close ties with the commercial research community. He will
play a key role in expanding the technical reach of our society.”
Dr. Yilmaz noted, “ASPRS is a very vibrant community with a mission to connect academia
and industry at the all levels. I am very honored to be a part of this mission and serve as
the editor-in-chief for the
PE&RS
journal. We as a team will get
PE&RS
to new heights by
increasing subscriptions, impact factor and quality.”
