Seller and Doer/Project Manager
As time progresses and more successes are had the next phase
in the businesses growth is to hire more staff to work within the
areas of sales and production. This is typically when we see a
formal sales team or group emerge, all the while production is also
experiencing growth. During this phase talented individuals within
the production group are often tasked with serving as the project
manager. Their responsibility is to continue working on the projects
directly but to also serve as the project manager on the projects
taking place within the company. They are knowledgeable about the
company, its products/services and at that phase in the company’s
evolution appear to be a natural fit to manage projects.
Seller and Doer and Project Manager
Organically more of the production staff grow into this role. The
increase in a business’s portfolio then dictate the need for dedicated
project managers. As the Seller/Doer model evolved into two roles,
the Seller and the Doer so does the Doer/Project Manager become
the Doer and the Project Manager.
At this point there are three key separate staff functions within the
business, Sales, Production and Project Management.
The organic growth of geospatial project managers and the resulting
hurdles are all born here.
