Bobby Alden
Bobby currently studies Earth Systems Science
and Socio-Cultural Anthropology at the
University of California, Davis (UCD). Bobby
started the Unmanned Airborne Systems (UAS)
Project to integrate an imaging spectrometer
with a fully-electric unmanned airplane after winning a grant
competition in 2014. Now that the UCD UAS Project is over, he
and his team founded a startup company to offer hyperspectral
imaging services and continue to pursue the research and
development of high spatial and spectral resolution imagery
with UAS. Bobby enjoys backpacking and adventure, but also
likes to cook, bake, swim, tinker and read.

Cory Caddell
Cory is an undergraduate student in the Environmental and
Geospatial Science programat NorthCarolinaCentral University.
Cory’s research focuses on utilizing ArcGIS to examine the
distribution of Ulcerative Colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease,
throughout the state of North Carolina using data from the NC
Vital Statistics Database. Cory will be receiving his Bachelor’s
degree in Environmental and Geospatial Science from North
CarolinaCentral University inDecember of 2018. After graduation,
Cory plans to pursue a Master’s degree in either Environmental
Science or Geography. During his free time, Cory enjoys reading,
hiking, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Travis Meyer
Travis is a graduate student in the MGIS program at Penn
State and is also enrolled in the graduate certificate program in
Remote Sensing & Earth Observation. Travis’s research focuses
on applying object-based analysis with multi-spectral imagery
and lidar data to delineate, measure, and quantify the canopy
structure of mangroves and other types of low vegetation in
wetland environments along the Gulf Coast. Travis received his
Bachelor’s degree inMarine Environmental Science from the New
York Maritime College (SUNY) in 2013. He recently completed
his 9th year of active service between the Marine Corps & Navy
and intends to pursue a Ph.D. program following the completion of
his Master’s degree. Travis enjoys reading, listening to podcasts,
rowing, and spending time with his wife and their four cats.

Katherine Gates
Katherine Gates is a current student at North
Carolina Central University studying environ-
mental and geospatial science. She is interested
in hydrology, GIS, green infrastructure, UAVs,
and environmental health. Katherine recently
joined the ASPRS Student Advisory Council as the Deputy
Communications Councilor after attending the Denver confer-
ence where she presented her research on drone orthophotog-
raphy classification. After graduation she plans on joining the
Peace Corps then earning a graduate’s degree. In her limited
free time, Katherine travels, cooks, and kayaks with her dog.

Briana Williams
Briana Williams attends the illustrious HBCU
of Fayetteville State University, located in
Fayetteville, North Carolina. Briana is pursuing
a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics with a
specialization in Geospatial Intelligence Studies.
Some of her research interest include Big Data Management
and Electrical Disturbances. In Briana’s spare time she loves to
travel internationally and writing poetry. She hopes to bring her
wonderful communication skills to connect upcoming students
with seasoned geographers of today.

Gerardo Rojas
Gerardo is currently pursuing his second degree
in the Geomatics Engineering program at Florida
Atlantic University. His first bachelor’s degree
was in Civil Engineering (2003). He is also
enrolled in the accelerated program BS to MS,
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, graduating Fall 2019. He
is the current President of the Florida Surveying & Mapping
Society at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Student Chapter.
During his research at FAU, he has developed his knowledge
in photogrammetry, Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR),
and ESRI ArcGIS software by creating maps and calculating
the volumetric loss of shoreline erosion in the Jupiter Inlet
Lighthouse and Museum (JILONA), FL. Gerardo enjoys flying
his Phantom drone, learning new things, and spending time
with his family.
