which is given together with their segmentation results. From
Continuous Urban Fabric to Discontinuous Very Low Den-
sity Urban Fabric, green spaces amount within related urban
fabric class area have increased gradually.
For the calculation of landscape metrics,
FRAGSTAT
soft-
ware was used and a total of six landscape metrics were cal-
culated, namely, Patch Density (
PD
), Edge Density (
ED
), Largest
Patch Index (
LPI
), Euclidean Nearest Neighbor Distance (
ENN_
MN
), Area-Weighted Mean Fractal Dimension İndex (
FRAC_AM
)
and Contagion (
CONTAG
) metrics.
FRAGSTATS
is a computer
software program used to calculate a wide variety of land-
scape metrics. The original version (version 2) From Oregon
State University in 1995 Kevin McGarigal and Barbara Marks
were publicly presented.
Patch density is equal to the number of patches belongs to a
related patch type, divided by the total area and multiplied by
10000 and 100 (to convert hectares). It gives the number of patches
per 100 hectares, and is calculated with the following Equation 1.
PD
ni
A
=
( ,
)( )
10 000 100
(1)
where
n
i
: total number of patches belongs to landscape
I;
and
A
is the total area of landscape (m

)
ED
is found by dividing the lengths (m) of all edge seg-
ments containing the respective patch type by the total land-
scape area (m
2
), multiplied by 10,000 to convert the hectare.
The metric is in hectares, calculated with the following Equa-
tion 2.
