Notice of Proposed Change to the Bylaws
Current Sustaining Members will be converted to
Corporate Members and will be entitled to representation
on the Sustaining Members Council and any successor
Council (e.g. Corporate Members Council).
The current category of Inactive Member will no longer
exist, so current Inactive Members will no longer be
considered members.
The article to be amended is Article III MEMBERSHIP.
The entire article is to be stricken and replaced with new
language. If the amendment to the Bylaws is adopted, the
full text of the new Article III would be as printed here. For
comparison, the full text of the current ASPRS Bylaws are
posted online at:

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Classes of Membership
Membership in the Society shall be classified in the following
categories: Individual, Corporate, and Friend.
Section 2. Individual Member
An Individual Member is an individual involved in the sci-
ences and disciplines set forth in the objectives of the Society
and shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of the Society
applicable to Individual Members, including the right to vote.
An applicant for admission as an Individual Member shall
file with the Executive Director a signed statement of con-
cern for, and involvement in, the objectives of the Society by
completing an application form prescribed by the Board of Di-
rectors. Completion of the form and payment of the required
dues shall constitute fulfillment of admission requirements.
Section 3. Corporate Member
A Corporate Member is an organization involved in the sci-
ences and disciplines set forth in the objectives of the Society
and shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of the Soci-
ety applicable to Corporate Members, including the right of
representation as a Corporate Member. An applicant for ad-
mission as a Corporate Member shall file with the Executive
Director a signed statement of concern for, and involvement
in, the objectives of the Society by completing an application
form prescribed by the Board of Directors. Completion of the
form and payment of the required dues shall constitute ful-
fillment of admission requirements.
Section 4. Friend Member
A Friend Member (who may also be called Friend or Friend
of the Society) is an individual or organization who wishes
to support the mission of the Society and shall be entitled to
rights and privileges of the Society as negotiated with The
Executive Director and set forth in a written agreement with
the Society. Rights and privileges of Friends shall not exceed
those of Individual or Corporate Members. Signing a written
agreement and fulfilling any initial conditions of the agree-
ment shall constitute fulfillment of admission requirements.
Section 4. Membership Termination
Membership may be terminated in any of the following ways:
a. Any member desiring to resign from the Society shall
submit their resignation in writing to the Executive Di-
rector.
b. Any member who does not maintain their qualifications
for membership or honor the terms of their membership
agreement will be subject to termination.
c. Any member may be separated for cause by a two-thirds
vote of the Board of Directors.
